2017 Nautique WWA Wakepark National Championships
July 27-30, 2017 - LOCATION TBD

The WWA National Points Chase (NPC) works with each park to give them the tools to host their own qualifying events. For riders* to compete at the NAUTIQUE WWA Wakepark National Championship they must qualify through the National Points Chase series hosted at each participating park. (pros only may also qualify in at final event) We have been doing cable wakeboard event series for over 14 years. Through trial and error we have figured out how to make it work for everyone including the park. The series must be hosted by the park itself, dedicated riders and family members (with park approval), or a combination of the two. Full size parks may choose to take part in one or both of the series. Because of the park/run limitations and what is most asked for by 2-tower parks, they are invited to compete in features only and not the traditional cable series.

Features Only: The four week features only series will run in June. The park will decide which week night works best for them to host the event once a week for four consecutive weeks. Each week the park will designate one feature and the riders will be given three attempts on that feature. Most parks will run each rider and give them three attempts before the next rider hits the water. If the rider falls the cable may slow down and pick him or her up if they have attempts remaining. If the rider falls out of course this will count as an attempt. The local judges will rank the riders by their single best hit. The four week series will consist of an event on a kicker on each side of the course and a rail/transfer on each side to keep things as fair as possible for reg and goofy footed riders. After four weeks of events the overall rankings will be decided by the riders top 3 out of 4 finishes, dropping the lowest score. The top 5 from each division will qualify for the National Points Championship.
Traditional Cable: The three week traditional cable series will run in July. The park will decide which week night works best for them to host the event once a week for three consecutive weeks. Each week the park will host a traditional cable competition ranking riders in seven different skill based divisions. The local judges will rank the riders on their best overall run. (worse of two runs is thrown out) After three weeks of events the overall rankings will be decided by the riders top 3 out of 4 finishes, dropping the lowest score. The top 5 from each division will qualify for the National Points Championship.

WEEKLY SERIES RIDER FEES: paid to the park
Rider fees are decided on by each participating park and are paid to the park. The park in most cases must close down for the event so entry fees and additional revenue brought to the pro shop or snack bar is how the parks are taken care. The park often chooses the slowest week night to host the events to build something on an otherwise slow evening. The park is provided trophy inserts for the podium finishers but must provide frames to make the inserts into a trophy. This cost is also a responsibility of the park and rider fees are generally directly used to cover cost like these. The park may choose to bring in their own sponsors and offer prizes if possible. The NPC will also give the parks contact and purchase info to get official shirts that many parks use as prizes. This is definitely a partnership between the NPC, the park, and the local riders to make this work. We have seen this take off in parks that put some effort in. For example at Texas Ski Ranch they have had as many as 93 riders for a Thursday night weekly event.
